Lochlea Overtone Over & Stout Cask Release 70cl 52%
Description
This UK exclusive uses whisky that has been matured for an extra 12 months compared to last year’s edition, giving it even more of that deep stout character. They have used just five casks in total for this release: three stout-seasoned, one Bourbon barrel and one ex-Islay peated barrel. Together they have yielded 1,500 bottles at 52%. Given the success of the previous release, we don’t expect them to be available for long!
The flavour is rich and layered, with a nose of sweet stout beer, gentle smoke and oak. Creamy vanilla, cinder toffee and BBQ smoke develop on the palate, followed by warming spice, green oak, rye bread and our signature cereal notes on the finish.
For this release there will not be any secondary packaging - ie there is not box, as the distillery knows their previous release was a favourite amongst drinkers, many of whom felt the gift box was unnecessary. Of course, this also helps with sustainability which is an increasingly important concern of both businesses and consumers.
