Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie is a prominent figure in the whisky industry, currently serving as the Malt Master at The Balvenie. She began her career with William Grant & Sons in 2014 as a Technical Graduate after earning a BSc in Biology and Biological Sciences from the University of West Scotland12. She later pursued an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University.

In 2018, at the age of 26, Kelsey was appointed as the Apprentice Malt Master, making her one of the youngest women globally to hold such a prestigious title. She trained under the legendary David Stewart MBE, who has been a significant mentor in her career. Known for her innovative approach, Kelsey has been instrumental in creating new whisky expressions, such as the "Sweet Toast of American Oak".

Her role involves overseeing the quality and consistency of The Balvenie’s whiskies, blending different casks to create unique flavors, and experimenting with new techniques and cask types. Kelsey is celebrated for her balance of tradition and innovation, ensuring that The Balvenie’s heritage is preserved while pushing the boundaries of whisky-making.
