Lochlea is an independent, family owned distillery in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. They grow their own barley, distil their unique spirit and mature all of their own casks on-site.
The red wine cask is an annual expression that showcases the unique spirit and highlights the distinctive whisky style through the use of carefully selected red wine casks. For the inaugural release they have taken their whisky matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, and finished in Grenache casks. The result is a bright, sweet whisky with vibrant notes of summer fruits and strawberry shortcake, followed by a finish of spiced biscuits and rich oak.
