Description

Woods is a blend of three rum marques, each with its own unique history, and all distilled at the Diamond Distillery in Guyana.  Guyana was a Dutch colony in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, with up to 380 sugar plantations, most with their own rum distillery.

The British Navy had adopted a daily rum ration of half a pint of proof rum to all sailors in the late 18th century.  Rum was chosen as the official drink of the Royal Navy due to pressure from the Caribbean plantation owners, who held huge financial sway in the 18th century.

Wood's Old Navy Rum is a Demerara Rum consisting of a blend of three Guyana rums made from Demerara black strap molasses.  The Recipe was created in 1887 and still made to their own original navy recipe.  It is the only Demerara rum still bottled at 57% ABV.

Rich punchy notes of brown sugar, Christmas pudding and thick syrupy toffee
